Test a custom input to verify an edge case (e.g. empty lists, negative numbers, duplicates).
This bug belongs to the type errors pattern
Totals that concatenate, sorts that put 10 before 9, comparisons that refuse to run.
What went wrong: URLSearchParams.get("ref") returns the literal string "null", which is truthy and bypasses the || "organic" fallback.
The fix: Explicitly check for "null" and "undefined" strings: (!val || val === "null" || val === "undefined") ? "organic" : val
Remember: In URL queries, ?key=null is parsed as a non-empty string "null", not primitive null.
The pattern behind it: type errors.
