Test a custom input to verify an edge case (e.g. empty lists, negative numbers, duplicates).
This bug belongs to the logic errors pattern
The wrong operator, an inverted condition, a formula the right way round but backwards.
What went wrong: str.split('\n') creates a trailing empty string element after the final newline. splitlines() strips trailing line breaks automatically.
The fix: Use splitlines() rather than split('\n'): len(file_content.splitlines())
Remember: In Python, str.splitlines() safely handles trailing and universal newlines without trailing empty strings.
The pattern behind it: logic errors.
