Test a custom input to verify an edge case (e.g. empty lists, negative numbers, duplicates).
This bug belongs to the null and undefined errors pattern
Cannot read properties of undefined, NoneType has no attribute, NaN appearing from nowhere.
What went wrong: the player {} has no score, so player.score is undefined. 10 + undefined is NaN, and every sum after that stays NaN.
The fix: total += player.score ?? 0;
Remember: give missing numbers a default of 0 before adding them.
The pattern behind it: null and undefined errors.
