Test a custom input to verify an edge case (e.g. empty lists, negative numbers, duplicates).
This bug belongs to the type errors pattern
Totals that concatenate, sorts that put 10 before 9, comparisons that refuse to run.
What went wrong: The JSON standard strictly requires double quotes for strings and keys. Single-quoted Python dict representations fail in json.loads().
The fix: Use ast.literal_eval() to safely parse Python literal strings: ast.literal_eval(payload_str)
Remember: In Python, use ast.literal_eval() instead of json.loads() when parsing Python dictionary strings.
The pattern behind it: type errors.
