The loop that runs one time too many, the slice that drops the last item, the index that starts in the wrong place.
What went wrong: date subtraction gives the gap. 1 Jan to 7 Jan is 6 days apart but 7 days of leave.
The fix: return (end - start).days + 1
Remember: when both ends count, add 1.
